Information should be free, without distractions, and without dark patterns, including paywalls.
ca. 2025: At least for YouTube, they reserve the right to show ads regardless of a channel's status in the partnership program, have been shown to do so on occasion, and they can and do show ads on non-partnered channels. Due to this, I will unfortunately have ads and monetization enabled on videos. As they do this regardless, at least some small amount would be going to me instead of all of it going to them.
!! To stop ads, use
youtube-dl/yt-dlp,
ublock origin extension on firefox,
or don't watch on any browser but instead with e.g. mpv or vlc where possible !!
Unless I'm in dire straits (not the band) or directly asked, I don't plan on mentioning these links or shilling myself or anything like that. It's annoying when people say "like & subscribe!", "go to my patreon", etc. and I don't wish to add to that.
I'd rather contribute to free and open source software, or other endeavours, without needing or asking for money. But I have been asked if there was a way to support me directly, so may as well have a section for that here.
If I can "retire" full-time and live off of say, 3% interest in perpetuity, I'll remove any/all payment and support options, as they won't be needed. Your money is better spent elsewhere anyway.
